From Oceania to Asia, Africa to America, and everywhere else that women are found, the horrific act of femicide is still well among us. It attests to the pervasive nature of gender-based violence in our societies and reflects the harm that systemic sexism engenders.

With this new article, we are shedding light on this issue through the stories of four Kenyan victims of femicide. Our promise at Gold Ink is this:

We often hear this word: radical— used to characterize something extreme or seemingly taken too far. Yet, it is neither.

As Angela Davis beautifully put it, radical only means to go back to the roots, to examine something with great care as the leading methodology for our approach. The dismantling of the oppressing systems that plague our world require that we move away from a delicate, superficial approach to one that is thorough and extensive. One that is radical.

We look not for our work to be palatable to those investing in maintaining the systems we seek to see crumble. We look only for that approach to be thorough, which is why, to us, “radical” is no insult.
